How does StayTubed work?
1. You add YouTube channels (manually or via Google import). 2. StayTubed automatically checks their RSS feeds for new videos. 3. When a new video appears (and has a transcript), our AI generates a summary based on your chosen depth setting ('Quick Overview', 'Key Points', or 'Detailed Digest'). 4. You receive the summary via Telegram or can view it on your dashboard.
Is this free to use?
You can start for free with a limited number of channels and summaries. We also offer paid plans if you want to monitor more channels or get more summaries per month based on our credit system.
Do I need to install anything?
No! StayTubed is a web application and works entirely in your browser. No downloads required.
How good are the summaries? Can I choose the level of detail?
Our AI aims for high accuracy based on the video transcript. Crucially, you can choose the depth: Quick Overview (1-3 sentences), Key Points Summary (main arguments/conclusions), or Detailed Digest (comprehensive coverage). The quality depends on the transcript and chosen depth, designed to help you quickly understand content and decide if the full video is worth watching.
What languages do the summaries support?
The AI automatically detects the language of the video's transcript and generates the summary in that same language. We do not translate content.
How exactly are the summaries generated? Is it just ChatGPT?
We use advanced AI models via OpenRouter, guided by a detailed prompt to analyze the transcript and title. This ensures focus on accuracy, objectivity, your chosen depth, and specific formatting rules (like starting immediately with core content and avoiding fluff).
What if a video doesn't have a transcript or captions?
AI summaries require a text transcript. Most YouTube videos have auto-generated captions, which usually work. If a video lacks any transcript (manual or auto-generated), we cannot summarize it and will skip it for that channel check.
